Obituary for Virgil Ivan "Bud" Puckett

Bud went to be with Jesus quietly from his home in Pensacola, FL, on April 2, 2023. He was born on May 28, 1940, in Gays Mills, Wisconsin, to John and Lillian Puckett. Bud was the youngest of 10 children, having 7 brothers and 2 sisters, who all preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Jean Puckett, his son, John (Kelly) of Sun Prarie, WI; his daughter, Gina Gilmore of Pensacola, FL. He was also blessed with his grandchildren: grandsons, Joshua (Danielle), Anderson of Texarkana, AR, Aaron (Angel) Gilmore, and Matthew Gilmore of Pensacola, FL; granddaughters, Jordan (Nick) May of Mt. Horab, WI, and Ashlee (Nick) Gonzalez, of Windsor, WI. Bud also had 4 great-grandchildren: Tori, Jaxon, Livi, and Jakob Anderson of Texarkana, AR; and many nieces and nephews.

Bud had many jobs in his long life. He started with the U.S. Navy and went on to be a Policeman in Madison, WI, and in Pensacola. Bud was a Steak House manager in Pensacola and loved working with the public. Bud finally, worked at the Department of Juvenile Justice with the kids, hoping to guide them to better lives.

Some of his favorite things were working in his yard and doing things with his grandchildren, especially on his bike. He looked forward to going to yard sales. Bud would get up really early to go every Friday and Saturday. We never knew what he would bring home.

He enjoyed going on long drives, sometimes four or five hours, just to see what was new in the area.

Bud loved his family and his church. Although his health prevented him from going to church recently, he watched every service and worshiped God from his recliner.
