Obituary for William Leon Pierce

William “ Bill” Leon Pierce, 88, of Daphne, Alabama passed away on January 29, 2023 at Sacred Heart Coventry Hospice. Bill was born in Batavia, New York to Robert and Vivian Pierce. Bill was a graduate in Summa Cum Laude, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society from Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, New York. He had several roles with International Paper, Controller, Engineer, Designer, and Consultant. Following his retirement continued his work with Gulf Pkg. until the age of 80. Bill was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Bill was preceded in death by parents; his brother, Robert Lee Pierce, Jr.; his niece, Tracy Pierce.
Bill is survived by his wife, Jan Hewes Pierce; daughter, Susan Pierce Minute (Stephen); son, Blayne Gordon Pierce; granddaughters, Teagan Pierce, Kara DePorter (Tim), Caitlin Krossber (Kevin), and Lieren Minute; five great grandchildren, Quinn, Brayden, Eden, Joviana and Michiah; and several nephews and nieces. Sister in laws, Bonnie Wolf, Andrea Barber, (William).
Bill was a bagpiper (Emeritus) with McGuires Irish Pub, an artist, an actor and director for Summerstock at Horseshoe Lake Theater, Batavia, New York. He was official at Watkins Glen Formula races, Watkins Glen, New York, sailing, and a man who could fix anything. Bill was a Korean war Veteran. His dry sense of humor and the love for his family is and will be extremely missed.
