Mary Owens Valera
Mary O. Owens Valera, 58 of Pensacola passed away on May 18, 2017 at 4:40 a.m. She was born on November 14, 1958 in Rocky Mount, NC to parents, Margaret S. and Herndon Owens.
Mary graduated from Tarboro High School in 1977 and then graduated from La Verne University, receiving a Master’s of Science in Counseling. She retired after 22 years of service in the United States Army (rank SFC) and continued as a drug and alcohol counselor for many years.
Survivors include: her husband, Ruperto Valera; sons, Ruperto Valera, Jr. and Brandon Campos Valera; her sisters: Annette Owens, Katherine O. Abbott, and Ellen Owens Colaneri; and brother, E. Matthew Owens.
Trahan Family Funeral Home, 419 Yoakum Court, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the memorial service begins at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
