Dorothy Elizabeth  Kinne
Dorothy Elizabeth Kinne joined the Heavenly Host on Monday, August 7, 2017. She was born to Osmond and Mae Sharpless on July 9, 1926 in Escambia County. Her early and formative years were spent in Cantonment, and she graduated from Tate High School in 1944.
After graduation, Dorothy married Emmett H. Wiley. They made their home in Farm Hill. Four children were born to this union: Dudley Emmett, Claudia Annette, Rebecca Gayle, and Charles Anthony.
Dorothy attended Cosmetology School and opened hair styling salons in Farm Hill and on Pensacola Beach. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women and active in politics. She was a candidate for the Board of County Commissioners. Dorothy was also a substitute teacher in local schools. She became interested in Concept Therapy and became a Counselor in that field.
In 1983, she married Walter Kinne, Sr. and they spent the next several years traveling and enjoying the children from the united families. She continued to enjoy the relationship of long time best friends Edna Kirksey Dixon, Cheryl Phelps, Ann Ward and step-daughter, Carol Kinne.
In 2016, she came into the care of Emerald Coast Hospice. The family wishes to express their profound thanks to the Organization and its personnel for their support and care.
Dorothy leaves behind, her daughter, Rebecca Gayle Stewart; grandchildren, Timothy Andros, Stephen Andros, Elizabeth Ashley, Marlo Button and James Fuller Hamilton III; and 14 great-grandchildren; her brother Osmond Charles Sharpless and sister, Barbara Buckendorf.
A memorial service will be held at Trahan Family Funeral Home chapel on Wednesday, August 23 at visitation at 9:30 a.m. and service to follow at 10:00. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.
