Obituary for Charles Arthur Asiala

Charles Arthur  Asiala
Charles A. Asiala, 79, of Pensacola, FL went to be with the Lord at his son’s home in Nashville, TN on September 14, 2017. He was born on June 17, 1938 in Manistee, MI to Emil A. Asiala and Sally Asiala.
Chuck was raised in Kaleva, MI, a small Finnish Community, in northern Michigan and was proud to be a Fin. He graduated from Kaleva High School in 1956 and in 1958 he joined the Army and served his country proudly.
In 1963, Chuck married the love of his life Erva Jean Palmer. They were married for 54 years.
He was very dedicated to his Lord and was a devoted member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Pensacola, FL.
Chuck graduated from Ferris State College with a bachelor’s degree in social work and SVSU with a master’s degree in Education. Chuck taught computers at the Averill Career Center and after he retired, he became the manager of the Saginaw Harness Raceway.
He now walks beside his Lord with his parents, Emil and Sally Asiala; and his brothers, Richard, John T., and Dennis.
Chuck was very loved and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of his wife, Erva Jean Asiala of Pensacola, FL; his children, Carol Ann Asiala of Saginaw, MI, Phillip (Kamile) Asiala of Nolensville, TN, Elizabeth (David) Kiefer of Saginaw, MI, Sara Asiala (Sanford Bucalter) of Saginaw, MI; grandchildren, Alex Asiala and Miranda Asiala of Pensacola, FL, Joseph Asiala, Hunter Asiala, Allison Kiefer, Emily Kiefer, Joshua Kiefer, Siena Asiala, and Levi Asiala; brother, Leon (Judy) Asiala of Manistee, MI; sisters – in – law Kay, Sandy and Cindy Asiala; brother – in – law, John (Merryann) Palmer of Mission, TX; and sisters – in – law, Holly and Charlene Palmer of Grand Rapids, MI.
A service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church Saginaw, MI on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Mathew Houser officiating. A ceremonial burial will be in Maple grove Cemetery in Kaleva, MI.
