Obituary for Richard Allen Voyles

Richard Allen Voyles, 60 years old, of Pensacola, Fl. passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at his home. Richard was born in Evansville, Indiana on November 14, 1956 to the parents of Robert Delano Voyles and Janice Marlene Voyles.
In his early years, Richard enjoyed ice skating and building forts in the back woods with his brothers in Groton, CT. When he was old enough he worked at Mystic Seaport in Mystic, Ct. He graduated from Robert E. Fitch Senior High and soon after gained employment as a pipefitter and welder at Electric Boat in Groton, Ct. He retired after 33 years, having worked on many of the U.S. Navy’s finest nuclear submarines.
He married the love of his life, Kathryn Stammel Voyles, who was also employed as a pipefitter at Electric Boat.
Survived by his wife, Kathryn, his parents Robert and Janice Voyles, his six brothers, Robert, Michael, Curtis, Patrick, John Kevin, Kenneth and his 4 sisters, Connie, Brenda, Christine and Donna and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He spent many hours sailing on his pride and joy, Free Fallin’. Aside from sailing, he enjoyed spoiling his large family with feasts of “lobsta”, also known as lobster.
An informal memorial will be held honoring Richard at Trahan Family Funeral Home on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 3:00 p.m.
