Obituary for Johnnie Luther "Buddy" Porter

Johnnie Luther Porter (Buddy) of Milton passed away on September 15, 2018. Johnnie was born in Jackson County on February 14, 1939 to Johnny W. and Eunice M. (Rette) Porter.

He was in preceded in death by his parents, brothers Billie Paul Pledger, Jack M. Porter, Leonard C. “Pee Wee” Porter and his sister, Millie Jane Sapp.

Johnnie is survived by his loving wife, Nell Porter, children John E. “Ed” Porter, Judy Lee Brown (Shannon) and Greg Ellingson as well as granddaughters Lauren Lee Johnson, Amy Lee Brown and Keaghen O’Donnell. He also leaves behind several brother and sisters in law that have been of great support during his illness.

Johnnie was born into a long-time Florida farming family. He spent many years working for Pratt & Whitney in West Palm Beach Florida and also owned an American Oil Gas Station there for several years. He also worked as a Journeyman Pipefitter. Johnnie loved fishing, and spending time with his family and his beloved dog Scooter. He was a great conversationalist; the family historian and he could work a puzzle in record time. He will be missed every day.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19th at the Pine Terrace Baptist Church in Milton with Dr. Michael Wiggins officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. There will also be a graveside service on Friday, September 21st at 4 p.m. at Lipford Cemetery in Jackson County with the Reverend John E. “Ed” Porter officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton.
